Monon Trail Bridge Opens

Thanks to a grant from Health by Design, Midtown Indy partnered with the Crown Hill Neighborhood Association to serve as Community Hub and Walkability Champion respectively. The Team's focus area geography included three Crash Zones identified by the City of Indianapolis as places with a high incidence of personal injury accidents involving vehicles and pedestrians. For six months, the

Walkability Team compiled community input and feedback on pedestrian safety and ways to improve it. The project ended March 31 and the final report should be ready by the end of April.

On March 12, Mayor Joe Hogsett and neighborhood leaders cut the ribbon on the Monon Trail bridge over 38th Street. Keep Indianapolis Beautiful sponsored a March 13 cleanup along Capitol Avenue and Illinois Street between 34th and 38th prior to college basketball taking over Indy! Project volunteers helped beautify the area and remove litter from a highly visible stretch of town.
